Enter our 2024 Maritime Moments Photo Contest

A view into the lives of our sea service men and women. 

Our sea service members are more than just military personnel.  Enter the Maritime Moments Photo Contest and give everyday Americans insight into the day in the life of a service member. Share your photos and stories from your active duty experiences for a chance to be published in Seapower Magazine and in our annual donor calendar.

What to enter:

We are looking for candid photos of life within the sea services. Photographs taken while on assignment with your (or your family members) respective military branch is a great place to start. The following list provides six potential subject categories. Photographs are not limited to these categories:

1. Military Life: Events, objects or activities connecting active duty members to the military culture; photographs that tell us what it means to be a military member and provide a sense of what it is like. 

2. Military Craft: Photographs of ships, aircraft, or other military craft that showcases their power and ingenuity.  

3. People: Portraits and photos of groups or individuals encountered during training or deployment. 

4. Travel: Locales, peoples or activities in the United States and abroad that convey a sense of place. If possible, providing a sense of travel within the confines of military service.

5. Natural World: Animals, plants, and landscapes; geological or climatological features encountered during training or deployment.

To be eligible for any category, a photograph must have been shot by the entrant. The contestant certifies that he/she is the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photograph.

Photo contest requirements:

• Contestants can submit up to five photos
• Photos must be horizontal or “landscape”
• All files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi 
• Max file size of 10 MB
• Min file size is 100KB
• Saved as JPEG with a max setting of 10 (100%) or higher
• Do not add watermarks, dates, logos, names, etc. to the photograph
• Photos should attempt to exhibit the sea services way of life 
• Images should NOT be downloaded from social media thumbnails.

Who may enter:

Open to all civilians, military and non-military. There is no fee to enter the contest. 

Entry deadlines:

The contest begins on July 10, 2023. All entries must be received through https://info.navyleague.org/trs-photo-contest by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on November 1, 2023.
